𝐑𝐔𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐊, 30 𝐀𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐋 2026–H.E Maj. Gen. Madhang Majok Meen, Governor of Lakes State, welcomed and received the delegation led by National Minister of Roads and Bridges, Hon. Peter Lam Both, at the State Secretariat.

The Governor held a meeting with the Minister, who was accompanied by his Undersecretary of Roads and Bridges, Hon. Eng. Gabriel Makur Amuor. The discussion focused on the urgent need to improve road infrastructure and prevent isolation of communities during the rainy season.

The Governor raised concern over the delay in constructing culverts before the rains begin, warning that failure to do so would cut off accessibility across several key areas. He particularly highlighted five sensitive locations requiring urgent attention: Payii, Bhar Naam, Gulmar, Kubur Makak, and Bahr Gel. He stressed that these areas urgently require bridges and culverts.

The Governor reiterated that these roads and bridges are not only important for Lakes State, but also serve as a vital link connecting Juba to the greater Bahr El Ghazal region.

On his part, Hon. Peter Lam Both acknowledged the poor condition of the road network, stating that he personally experienced the challenges during his travel. He assured the Governor that priority will be given to the construction of culverts and bridges.

The Minister further noted that the government is planning to construct a modern road network and apologized for the inconvenience caused by poor road conditions, particularly in parts of Rumbek East.

The State Ministry of General Education and Instruction concluded a three days ASEP tutors orientation workshop in Rumbek.

In an inclusive orientation workshop conducted by both the national and state ministries of General Education and Instruction in Lakes State with support from Windle Trust International has been overwhelmingly appreciated.

The state Minister for general education and Instruction Hon Nelson Makoi apperciated the state leadership led by H.E. Maj Gen. Madhang Majok who has put education as a priority for it is a hope to change the negative attitude through education.

Hon. minister emphasised the importance of Accelerated Secondary education program which amounts to close the gap for those who didn't get a chance to complete their Secondary education in early age.

Cde. Nelson applauded the commitment of teachers both in primary and secondary for being resilience and focused much on their community welfare.

He encouraged them to embrace peace as this program has brought in tutors from Mvolo County of Western Equatoria state.

With this program, the tutors are also teachers of main secondary schools and added that if you don't bring up the young ones, then the meaning of choosing this novel profession is at wrong hand.

He concluded by appreciating world bank who funded the government project through implementing partner like Windle Trust international.

Minister has also thanks the National Ministry of General Education for printing a condensed syllabus for ASEP in the country where Lakes State is a beneficiary of this project.

The orientation has brought a total of 63 participants from 6 ASEP centres plus Mvolo centre that makes a total of 7 centres.Together, we shall achieve the goal.
