The family of 7-year-old Adoni Je'Castro "Tupac" Garland is still searching for answers and justice months after the young boy was tragically knocked down and killed in his own residential area of Leeward Palms, Providenciales.

Adoni, who had just turned seven in January and was a student at Shining Stars school, was described by those who knew him as a bright and lively child with an exceptionally promising future ahead.

Despite the profound grief they are experiencing, Adoni’s mother and family have been met with silence and frustration as they await accountability for the accident that took his life. From their perspective, no clear action has been taken against the driver involved — a woman whose name has not been publicly released.

The mother, still struggling to come to terms with her loss, questions why her son’s story surrounding his death has not been addressed by the authorities. “Why my son’s death seems to have gone silent? Why hasn’t the female name been released? Why does it feel like she’s being protected?” she asked in a conversation with Eagle Legal News.

This incident took place right in our neighborhood. The family wonders why justice seems delayed and why the driver has not yet been charged or appeared in court. Their sense of injustice is deepened by the absence of consistent coverage, making them feel that their son’s life and death have been overlooked.

Adoni’s tragic death has sparked a call from his family for the authorities to be more transparent and to ensure that the case is handled with the urgency and seriousness it demands. The community, too, is beginning to ask questions about how children can be protected in residential areas, where safety should be given.

The family’s pain is palpable, and their hope is simple — that their son’s death will not be forgotten and that action will be taken to prevent similar tragedies in the future. As they continue to mourn, they also want their story to be a reminder that every child deserves safety, respect, and justice.

Eagle Legal News did ensure the mother and other family members are aware that not all persons agree that this lady should be placed before the court without some blame being rest directly at the feet of the parents or whoever was responsible for his care on that fatal day.

RASHAD MCKENZIE, aka BRICK SQUAD, was charged with double murders, one for Guilene Baptiste 26 of Dock Yard, allegedly killed on 2nd August 2023 in Grace Bay, and the other for Erwin Glinton 22 of Five Cays, on 24th January 2024. His attorney, Mr. James Shepherd of Karam and Missick Law Firm, in Grace Bay, submitted that the prosecution had sufficient and adequate time to present and serve the defense and the court with any evidence they have against his client on both homicides but failed to do so. He invites her Ladyship, The Hon Chief Justice, Mrs Mable Agyemang in an extensive written argument that the crown did not respond to, to discharge the accused on both murders.

Her Ladyship invited public prosecutor Ms. Tavania Wilson to persuade her in oral submission on why she should not discharge and released the defendant, but her attempt failed terribly, and Rashad MCKENZIE was released from prison, being discharged of two alleged firearm killings.

Yesterday, members of the Rotaract Club of Providenciales delivered a donation of toiletries, clothing and care items to the Turks & Caicos Red Cross in support of individuals affected by the recent fire in Blue Hills.

We are truly grateful for the opportunity to lend a hand during such a difficult time.

Our thoughts are with the families and individuals impacted, and we extend our sincere well wishes as they begin the journey of rebuilding and healing.

On Thursday, July 3, 2025, between 6:00 a.m. and 7:10 a.m., officers conducted a targeted operation in the Dock Yard area of Providenciales.

A coordinated search of the area led to the successful recovery of a high-powered 5.56 caliber assault rifle along with live ammunition. The items were discovered concealed in the vicinity of a group of wooden structures that appeared to have been recently occupied.

The operation was executed without incident or injury and highlights the continuing efforts of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force to remove illegal weapons from the streets and protect the safety of all residents.

Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey commended the officers involved, stating:

"The recovery of this weapon sends a clear message that illegal fi****ms have no place in our society. I commend the officers for their swift and professional response. We will continue to act on credible information and take every necessary step to ensure the safety and security of our communities."
