The Golden Barb is one of my absolute favorites. Stunning colors, active, hardy and healthy and not fin nippy like some other barbs can be. I think they deserve much more attention than they currently get. And, yes like the Rosey Barb they also munch on BBA and other soft algae. I have observed this first hand 👍

Visiting a local aquarium plant shop this algae eater caught my eye. Without zooming in it appears black with a gold/orange stripe above the horizontal stripe. Really cool looking as it was gliding around. Zooming in there is greys, black and pale orange of sorts. The employee in the store just referred to Crossocheilus reticulatus, which it is clearly not. My question is, is this some uncommon Crossocheilus? Is it a freak mutation of a Crossocheilus Langei? Is it a Garra species of some kind? I feel I am being dragged into the rabbit hole of south-east Asian algae eaters, again! Does anyone know what this is?

Betta Tussyae. Latest additions in the fish room, and the new inhabitants of the low pH blackwater tank. A pair of wild Betta Tussyae. B. Tussyae is native to eastern peninsular Malaysia and like so many other wild Betta species they are threatened by agricultural development, deforestation and urban development.
Thank you Manoon Sinkhongpong for keeping good quality specimens
