This is me when I was still working on roads and bridges. Back then, my professors used to say: ‘In civil engineering, your skin color reflects your wallet. The darker you are, the more money you’re making.’

I believed it… so I embraced the sun. But reality hit hard — I was broke, just tanned.

Meanwhile, I’d hear jokes in the field: ‘If you want fast money, do flood control projects. Cut corners, overcharge, and when it fails, just blame nature.’ Easy!

At the time, it sounded like dark humor. Today, i can’t help but wonder, if that is really a joke or a confession.
