I’ve been on YouTube since late July 2019 and consistently producing over 100 videos on a variety of topics. I’ve covered the concept of greng jai เกรงใจ, màn-sâi หมั่นไส้, sǐn sɔ̀ɔt (Sin Sod) สินสอด or Thai dowry, and etc. I also love playing piano and singing so I made some videos for Thai songs for those who find music as a fun part of learning the language and one of those is Thai national

anthem–the video that I’m the most proud of as a Thai national. While I enjoy giving private lessons, I am also hoping to teach bigger groups of students because to me teaching is about creating an impact in the community and so teaching on YouTube, page, and TikTok is something that allows me to achieve that goal at a larger scale.

Episode 3️⃣ of ให้ hâi kaaaaaa

✅ ตัดผมให้สั้น
dtàt-pǒm hâi sân
= cut the hair so that it becomes short (make sure it will be short)

🔔 ให้ hâi is used to indicate the end goal.
👉 The pattern ให้ hâi + adjective means “make something become…”

💇ตัดผมสั้น
dtàt-pǒm sân
= already cut short

💇‍♀️ตัดผมให้สั้น
dtàt-pǒm hâi sân
= The use of ให้ hâi focuses on the action/request of making it short.

Some common phrases with ให้ hâi to indicate an end goal (request to achieve that goal) are:

1️⃣ Dress and make sure you look good.
แต่งตัวให้หล่อ
dtɛ̀ng-dtuua hâi lɔ̀ɔ
- Dress nicely. (said to men)
แต่งตัวให้สวย
dtɛ̀ng-dtuua hâi sǔuai
- Dress nicely. (said to ladies)

2️⃣ Travel and make sure you'll have fun.
เที่ยวให้สนุก
tîiao hâi sà~nùk
- Enjoy your travel (or hang out)!

3️⃣ Sleep (after you die) and make sure you feel comfortable
หลับให้สบาย
làp hâi sà~baai
- This one we use for "Rest in Peace" in Thai. Please don’t use it for “Sleep well” 🤣

4️⃣ Correct until it's correct.
แก้ให้ถูก
gɛ̂ɛ hâi tùuk
- Correct it.

5️⃣ Wipe until it's clean.
เช็ดให้สะอาด
chét hâi sà~àat
- Wipe it clean.

ในรูปนี้ = in this photo
คิดว่า = I think, do you think
มี = there is, there are, to have
ดอกไม้ = flower
กี่ = How many
ดอก = classifier for flowers, incenses

1️⃣ Structure:
มี + Noun + กี่ + Classifier
= How many ….. are there?

2️⃣ How to answer:
มี + Noun + Number + Classifier OR;
มี + Number + Classifier OR;
Number + Classifier

✅ Yes, you can drop the noun if it’s already understood or implied into context. 😊
