📍 Top 10 rice producers in the world compared to their consumption - Data of 2022/2023
Rice is a staple food in Asia, forming the foundation of diets in countries like China, India, Indonesia, and Japan. It is deeply embedded in the culture, economy, and daily life of millions, serving as a vital source of energy and nutrition.
However, this heavy reliance on rice also contributes to overdependence on a single food source, leading to potential health concerns like excessive carbohydrate intake, which can increase risks of obesity, diabetes, and other chronic diseases.
Especially in countries with rice deficit, reducing the consumption of rice not only will reduce the risks of health issues due to consuming rice too much, but also will help the economy by reducing imports which will strengthen or at least stabilize the local currency.
