Thai Army Disputes Cambodia's Distorted Border Meeting Claims
Army spokesman Colonel Winthai Suwaree revealed that the Royal Thai Army, through the Assistant Military Attaché Office at the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh, has sent a formal letter to Cambodian authorities on August 23 after Cambodia published distorted information about the Regional Border Committee (RBC) meeting results.
Following the August 22, 2025 RBC meeting in Sa Kaeo province, Cambodia's 5th Military Region published an English-language document claiming both sides discussed "practical measures to address barbed wire and other obstacles, aiming to reduce community difficulties, facilitate safe civilian travel home, and minimize impact on livelihoods as quickly as possible."
The Thai Army clarified that the RBC serves as a bilateral border security mechanism, not a platform for either party to disseminate distorted public information. Publishing potentially misleading statements that could undermine mutual confidence on issues not officially recorded in meeting minutes is inappropriate.
