Just got back from an incredible shore dive and wanted to share some photos of these amazing creatures I found! Meet the nudibranchs or often called "sea slugs."They're like underwater jewels, with their vibrant colors and intricate patterns.
Nudibranchs are a type of marine mollusk known for their extraordinary beauty. They come in thousands of species, each with its own unique look. The name "nudibranch" literally means "naked gills," referring to the feathery gills on their backs, which they use to breathe.
What's really fascinating is how they get their colors. Many nudibranchs feed on colorful sponges and hydroids, and they can absorb the pigments and even the stinging cells of their prey to use for their own defense. It's a truly wild and beautiful survival strategy.
I'm always in awe of the diversity of life right under the surface. Hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed finding them!
