🔴DRUNK DRIVER DILEMA: In the wee hours of December 28, chaos struck outside a Supercheap store in Bandon, Thalang, as a pickup truck turned a row of parked bikes into its own unfortunate domino effect. Thankfully, no one got hurt, but nine bikes were left feeling quite battered. The truck's grand escape plan was foiled by the very bikes it knocked over.
Meet the driver of this unplanned demolition derby: Damrong Bunphong, a 48-year-old with a penchant for drunk driving and property damage. The police, equipped with breathalyzers, swiftly put an end to his tipsy getaway. Now, he's facing charges that might make him rethink his choice of after-party activities.
Among the victims, Wannaphatchan Kueannun, a 25-year-old bike owner, shared his tale of woe. While innocently grabbing a late-night snack inside Supercheap, he was met with a symphony of crunching metal. His bike, along with several others, had become collateral damage.
Wannaphatchan's work schedule took a hit—11 days and counting—costing him over 600 baht in transportation fees. Sasinadda Wichaihom, another bike owner, was just trying to buy some beer for his co-workers when his bike became an unintended casualty. Now, he's stuck with the bill for a rental bike.
The victims are rallying for swift justice, urging the police to rev up the compensation process. Thalang Police assure us they're not hitting the brakes on this issue; they're working on a resolution to get everyone back on two wheels, financially unscathed.
