Women and Children Flee Across River as Bandits Advance on Zamfara Communities :

Dramatic scenes from Birnin Magaji, Zamfara State, show women and children crossing a major river to escape a bandit attack that reportedly pushed into the area yesterday.
Residents say the strategy of quickly evacuating villages whenever bandits approach has helped reduce mass casualties and large-scale kidnappings. As families seek safety, the footage highlights the ongoing security challenges facing rural communities and the resilience of those forced to flee.
🙏 Prayers for the safety of all affected families and for lasting peace in the region.

A child left home for school and never returned.

That single sentence should haunt the conscience of every Nigerian.

For days, her mother cried and pleaded for help, telling anyone who would listen that her daughter was sick and needed urgent attention. She begged for her child to be rescued. She begged for mercy. She begged for help.

But help never came in time.

Now, reports suggest that little Ahoro Esinele is gone.

I cannot stop thinking about her mother.

Imagine the pain of knowing your child was suffering somewhere in a forest, helpless, sick, and beyond your reach. Imagine carrying that burden every day, hoping for a miracle, only to be confronted with the unimaginable.

And even if the remaining children and teachers return home tomorrow, how do we erase this trauma? How does a mother recover from this? How do the surviving children forget the fear, the hunger, the rain, the uncertainty, and the loss they have witnessed?

As we mourn this innocent child, let us not forget those who are still in captivity.

We owe them our voices. We owe them our prayers. We owe them our concern.

May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.

And may God bring every remaining child and teacher home safely. 💔🙏😭

The Southern Africa Litigation Centre (SALC) filed a lawsuit in the North Gauteng High Court to stop South African arms exports to the United States.

SALC argues that exporting weapons to the U.S. violates South Africa's National Conventional Arms Control Act, citing the U.S.'s recent military actions that threaten global peace.

The lawsuit targets the National Conventional Arms Control Committee (NCACC), the Minister of Defence, and the President, holding them accountable for human rights obligations.

SALC highlights U.S. actions in Gaza, Iran, and Venezuela as evidence of ongoing international law violations tied to South African-supplied arms.

The Nigerian Army says troops of Joint Task Force (North West) Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY), have arrested a suspected arms courier and recovered a large cache of ammunition during operations across the North-West. The suspect, Mustapha Abubakar, 42, was intercepted on June 5 at a checkpoint in Kaura Namoda while travelling towards Shinkafi, Zamfara State.

A search of his vehicle uncovered a locally fabricated pistol, a magazine and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition hidden in a sack of millet. Authorities said the items were allegedly being transported to an accomplice, while investigations are ongoing to track other members of the suspected network.

In Kaduna State, troops also foiled a cattle rustling operation in Chikun LGA on June 3 after responding to a distress call. The rustlers fled after an exchange with troops, abandoning 53 cattle later returned to the owner.
