Selen Gulun's new solo album Haze Walker is out now!
Haze Walker is a fully improvised solo piano album by composer, pianist and vocalist Selen Gülün released by iKi Muzik on 12.06.2026.
After 30 years of writing, composing and improvising music, Gülün wanted to give herself an album. Recorded on a rainy day in Lisbon without preparation, Haze Walker emerged from whatever was present at that particular moment in life: concerts recently heard at Porta Jazz Festival, memories of previously written music, the excitement of future projects, a complicated relationship, familiar and unfamiliar inner voices, old traumas, disappointments, hope, dreams, friendships, silence and laughter.
Rather than presenting a collection of compositions, Haze Walker documents a state of being. The music unfolds through spontaneous reflections, allowing passing thoughts, memories and emotions to surface and disappear without intervention. The album captures a musician listening as much as playing, tracing a path through uncertainty, memory and imagination.
Although Gülün’s musical language is deeply rooted in jazz and improvisation, Haze Walker was not conceived through the lens of genre. Rather than following a stylistic framework, the music unfolds as a personal language shaped by memory, instinct and reflection. The eleven pieces move freely between moments of stillness, abstraction, lyricism and spontaneity, tracing the contours of an inner landscape rather than a musical category.
