(KINGSTON) Jamaica Travel Advisory at Level 2 Amidst Crime Concerns

The U.S. Department of State has maintained its Level 2 travel advisory for Jamaica, urging increased caution due to crime concerns. While reports indicate a decrease in violent crime since 2024, the country continues to grapple with high statistical rates of criminal activity.

Tourist areas generally experience lower incidents of violent crime compared to other regions. However, the Jamaican government's reported homicide rate remains among the highest in the Western Hemisphere. Armed robberies and sexual assaults are also reported as common occurrences.

The U.S. Embassy has issued restrictions for its employees, prohibiting them from using public buses and from driving between cities at night due to safety concerns. Travelers are advised to exercise caution and stay informed about local conditions.
