Mayaro man charged with murder of Cassie Ann LemessyA 35-year-old man from Mayaro has been charged with the murder of Cassie Ann Lemessy, who was gunned down in broad daylight last month.The accused, Samuel Paul, was formally charged with murder and possession of a firearm following legal advice from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Mrs. Dougadeen-Jaglal, on Monday, July 7th, 2025.The charges stem from a fatal shooting that occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17th, at LP 54 Church Road, Mayaro. Residents reported hearing a series of loud explosions, prompting a swift response from police.Upon arrival around 3:40 p.m., officers discovered the lifeless body of a woman—later identified as Cassie Ann Lemessy—seated in the front middle seat of a white MG vehicle parked under a shed and facing west. The vehicle bore multiple gunshot damages to the windshield and both front doors, suggesting a targeted attack.Following extensive investigations, police arrested the suspect, Samuel Paul, on Monday, June 30th, 2025.The investigation was led by PC Gillead, under the supervision and direction of ASP Victor, W/Insp Sylvester, Sgt Ramoutar, and PC Subiar, all of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II. After gathering sufficient evidence, a case file was submitted to the Office of the DPP, resulting in formal charges.Paul is scheduled to appear before a magistrate on Tuesday, July 8th, 2025.
