A call from within the senate for government minister to be charged, after he parked in a spot reserved for members of the disabled community.

Minister in the Ministry of Housing, Phillip Alexander admits to unlawfully using the parking spot, but he said, he was guided by a security officer on the compound of a business place in Maraval.

Since the video footage of the offence appeared on social media, there has been strong condemnation.In the Upper House temporary opposition Senator Caron James, wants the minister charged.

Senator James was contributing to a debate on a motion, which seeks a national strategic plan, for persons with disabilities.

He told the house, the incident involving the minister hits close to home for him.

That was inside the senate.Earlier in the day, at the parking spot Phillip Alexander met with the local chapter of the, disabled peoples international he apologized.

He dismissed the temporary senator’s call for him to be charged.
