Cornelia Lauf’s love affair with Rome spans four decades of her work as an art historian, deepening after she moved to the Eternal City in 1998 with her then-husband, Joseph Kosuth. For nearly three decades, she has been both a participant and an observer of Rome’s contemporary art scene.

From this vantage point, Lauf shares her perspective on the city while inviting a voice forty years younger—Lebanese artist-curator Majd El Roumi, based in Rome—to contribute his own portrait of this community through photographs of key practitioners. Link in comments:

In 2016, amid Hungary’s sharp illiberal shift under Viktor Orbán, White Fungus published a roundtable discussion on the state of the country's contemporary art scene.

The conversation featured Gábor Rieder, art critic and former editor-in-chief of Flash Art Hungary; Dávid Fehér, art historian and associate curator at the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest; and Áron Fenyvesi, writer and curator at Trafó Gallery, Budapest.

White Fungus is featured in BANGKOK CITYCITY GALLERY's Music Project. On view at the gallery from May 23 to August 22. Thursday–Saturday, 13:00–18:00.

"Designed by sp/n, the spatial design of MUSIC PROJECT extends the curatorial framework, treating sound as memory, ritual, gathering, and a mode of world-making. The gallery is treated as a hybrid environment: part listening space, part social space, part research field, part living space, and part temporary daytime club, with the programme taking place primarily during the daytime. This reframes club culture away from the night economy toward a civic, public, and contemplative zone of encounter, where listening, gathering, and care coexist with experimentation.

"In this context, the project escapes the wall, allowing sound to replace objects, time to replace space, and performance to replace display. The gallery becomes a meeting space as much as an exhibition site — where works are experienced as unfolding situations rather than static displays."

Taiwanese sound artist Yenting Hsu creates immersive works that explore encounters between natural forces and human-made environments—from the torrential rains of Typhoon Morakot to the metallic rhythms of Taipei’s "Blacksmith Street" and the everyday sounds of the Chenglong Wetlands.

Hsu performed recently at the White Fungus event, The Subconscious Restaurant, at Taichung Art Museum. We also published an interview with her in the TSR publication. You can now read it on the White Fungus site.
