For other AfrĂcan cities to have a level of road infranstructure like South AfrĂca, all major roads towards their big cities should have at least 4 lanes of express highway as far as 200km away. It is fine and if they will be tolled
All major highways heading to Johannesburg city are becoming 4 lanes tolled Expressway as far 200km away. You drive non stop up to the city boundaries where you start seeing 6 lanes highways with major interchanges.
This highway is heading to eMakhazeni, South Africa
Dar es Salaam was coming up well with 8 lanes kimara highway that had to end up in Chalinze 109km away. I saw TANROAD masterplan of 2020, that by 2025 8 lanes kimara highway had to be expanded to chalinze. And then later it becomes 6 lanes highway to Morogoro onwards. What happened? Why did the road end up in Kibaha and why do I see traffic lights instead of Interchanges like kibamba Chama, mbezi luis interchanges etc. Why is the road not having even street lights all over, why are Service roads untarmarked? Because all Daladalas, tuktuks, Bodaboda etc were to use those Service roads instead of the major highway.
Actually Dar es Salaam Tanzania to be like Joberg in terms of roads infranstructures. We need 4 lanes Expressway from Segera Tanga, Morogoro Town and somewhere after Mkuranga, we can do it in South AfrĂca way. They build their major highways interms of PPP just most of their major roads are tolled.
In other sectors like Bus Rapid transits, Electric Railways, Tanzania is Doing better even than Joberg.
