Fact-Checking Training for Journalists in Tanzania! 🗞️

Nukta Africa, in collaboration with International Media Support (IMS) and with support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), is conducting a 3-day fact-checking and dis/misinformation training in Morogoro from July 23–25, 2025.

🎙️ The training brings together journalists from local and community radio stations under the Tanzania Development Information Organization (TADIO).

📲 Participants are learning practical tools and techniques to detect and counter false information in all aspects of life including election period.

👩🏽‍💻👨🏾‍💻 Facilitated by experienced trainers from Nukta Africa and partners, this training strengthens media capacity to deliver credible, inclusive, and accountable journalism.

🌍 The goal? To increase public accessespecially for women, youth, and rural communities to trustworthy, balanced content that promotes democratic participation and holds power to account.

Badala ya kubashiri nini kina umuhimu au kutegemea vyanzo rasmi pekee, waandishi wa habari wanaweza kuandika habari zenye mchango mkubwa kwenye maendeleo kwa kusikiliza na kuzingatia mahitaji ya jamii zao.

Dausen alikuwa akizungumza leo Julai 22, 2025 mkoani Morogoro katika mafunzo ya siku mbili ya kuwajengea uwezo waandishi wa habari kuhusu Sheria ya Haki ya Kupata Taarifa (2016).

Mafunzo hayo yanatolewa na Nukta Africa kwa kushirikiana na Shirika la International Media Support (IMS) kwa ufadhili wa Ubalozi wa Switzerland nchini Tanzania.

Nukta Africa, in collaboration with International Media Support (IMS) and with support from the Embassy of Switzerland in Tanzania, has launched a two-day awareness training on the Access to Information (ATI) Act, 2016 for journalists from local and community media across Tanzania.

This training empowers journalists to strengthen public-interest reporting by equipping them with practical knowledge and tools to hold power to account and amplify citizen voices.

🎯 Key issues of the training:

📘 Understand key provisions and real-world implications of the ATI Act, 2016.
🗣️ Learn to effectively gather story ideas and information needs directly from citizens.
📝 Master the process and ethics of filing information requests to public authorities.

By the end of the training, participants will be ready to produce evidence-based stories that foster transparency, accountability, and civic engagement across Tanzania.
