russia is trying to drag Belarus into the war, but there is currently no troop buildup on the Belarusian border – State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (Державна прикордонна служба України)

Various military units are constantly being inspected on Belarusian territory, including in conjunction with russia. Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, stated this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

💬 “Combat readiness checks, joint exercises with russia, and inspections of various units of the Belarusian army. There are only brief intervals when there is a pause. Currently, there are no additional russian units on Belarusian territory that would pose a growing threat to our state. However, russia is now actively pressuring Belarus to join the war against us with its own forces,” he said.

Andriy Demchenko emphasized that a new offensive or provocations at the border cannot be ruled out, so it is necessary to strengthen defenses and fortifications along the Belarusian border.

🔎 Challenges in Security, Logistics, and Finance: A Study of CSO Activities in Frontline Areas

Civil society organizations in frontline regions operate daily amid constant shelling, evacuations, logistical challenges, staff shortages, and limited access to resources. Despite this, they are often the first to assist people, support communities, and respond to the humanitarian challenges of war.

UUkrainian Center for Independent Political Researchconducted and presented a study on the challenges faced by CSOs in Ukraine’s frontline regions: from Kharkiv and Sumy to Kherson and Donetsk.

Valeria Skvortsova, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Center for Independent Political Research, spoke about this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

💬 “Since 2022, when the number of organizations responding to the challenges of war has significantly increased, we have noticed that the challenges they face are unique. And this should not be ignored. We need to talk about the conditions in which they operate,” she said.

Thirty-six civil society organizations participated in the survey, which was conducted online from January 7 to January 18, 2026.

According to the survey results, most of the problems faced by respondents relate to security and logistics. The proximity of combat operations is the main factor destabilizing and complicating the work of these organizations.

💬 “In addition to security and logistical challenges, civil society organizations operating near the front lines also highlighted the issue of burnout due to constant work under stress and unstable funding. They also face additional specific expenses—for example, on power supply equipment, which breaks down more quickly in frontline regions,” explained Yaryna Pokhoday, a representative of the Ukrainian Center for Independent Political Research.

The authors of the study emphasize that the report also includes recommendations on how to assist such organizations in frontline territories. The study is available at the following link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1P0rh7SOsBXM7fYBLWtij-fbs0jFnzgg3/view

Теми для обговорення:
– Виклики, з якими стикаються ОГС на прифронтових територіях;
– Рекомендації для ключових стейкхолдерів;

Why is this important?
Civil society organizations in frontline regions work daily amid constant shelling, evacuations, logistical challenges, staff shortages, and limited access to resources. Despite this, they are often the first to assist people, support communities, and respond to the humanitarian challenges of war.

The Ukrainian National Centre for Peace and Development (UNCPD) presents the results of a new study on the challenges faced by CSOs in Ukraine’s frontline regions: from Kharkiv and Sumy to Kherson and Donetsk.

The focus is on security risks, difficulties in accessing communities, funding issues, team mobility, office operations, humanitarian logistics, and interaction with government agencies and donors.

🛠️ The recovery of the energy sector is ongoing, with thermal power generation facing the most challenging situation – Oleksandr Kharchenko

Ukraine has lost significant power generation capacity, so the situation in the energy sector remains difficult. Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Center for Energy Research (Центр досліджень енергетики / EIR Center), made these remarks during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

💬 “The process of restoring this capacity is ongoing. The nuclear sector is the easiest — scheduled maintenance is underway there. The schedule is designed to bring the capacity back online from maintenance in July-August. The situation with thermal power generation is difficult because significant capacity has been lost; restoration is proceeding on a tight schedule, but it is not enough to yield quick results. Large hydroelectric power plants are being restored,” the expert noted.

According to him, the most difficult situation remains in regions with high electricity consumption — Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and Kharkiv.

🇰🇷 Ukraine plans to use South Korean technology for road construction – Vitalii Kim

The head of the Mykolaiv region plans to implement a program to convert slurry (finely ground waste produced during ore washing – ed.) into road material using South Korean technology.

Vitalii Kim announced this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

💬 “We sent samples of the sludge found in Ukraine to South Korea, and the Koreans used it to build a section of road. It has stood the test of time for a year and shown good results. We are currently awaiting certification so that we can utilize the sludge by turning it into roads,” he emphasized.

Internet Shutdowns in russia Lead to “Kitchen Revolutions” – Vadym Denysenko

However, this will not have serious consequences for russia’s domestic policy. Vadym Denysenko, a political analyst and head of the “Business Capital” Analytical Center (Ділова Столиця), made this statement during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“Kitchen revolutions” will have no consequences. The state of the Russian economy is deteriorating. But thanks to the war in Iran, russia has been able to improve its economic situation.

💬 “Because every $10 increase in the price of oil brings $1.6 billion to the Russian budget. Since the start of the war in Iran, the price of oil has risen by an average of $50,” he noted.

At the same time, the analyst predicts that russia’s economy will continue to deteriorate due to a lack of labor, technology, and investment.
