Jose Chameleone, born Joseph Mayanja on April 30, 1979, in Kampala, Uganda, is one of the most prominent and influential musicians in East Africa. His career spans over two decades and is characterized by a unique blend of Ugandan folk music, central African rumba, zouk, and reggae.
EARLY LIFE AND CAREER
Jose Chameleone grew up in a musical family and began his career in the late 1990s. He initially started as a DJ in Kampala before moving to Nairobi, Kenya, where he recorded his first single, "Bageya," featuring Kenyan artist Redsan, in 1999. This song helped him gain initial recognition.
