The UMA trade fair saw unusually empty stalls on Independence Day, as students dominated the annual event while traders, especially food vendors, were left disappointed.

Many vendors who had anticipated high sales are now counting losses due to the low customer turnout. The poor attendance has largely been attributed to the introduction of mobile money-only payments for entry, which traders claim blocked many potential customers from accessing the venue.
