🚨 the 2026 World Cup ball literally needs charging before every match ⚽🔋

The ball: Adidas Trionda
Unveiled Oct 2025. It’s the official match ball for World Cup 2026 in USA, Mexico & Canada. “Trionda” = “three waves” in Spanish, for the 3 host nations.

Why it needs charging:
1. Smart sensor inside- There’s a 14-gram 500Hz motion sensor chip embedded in one panel. It tracks speed, spin, trajectory, and the exact moment of contact 500 times per second.

2. Powers VAR + offside tech- The sensor sends real-time data to VAR and Semi-Automated Offside Tech. It tells refs the precise moment the ball is played for tight offside calls.

3. Battery life- Full charge takes ∼90 minutes and lasts ∼6 hours. That covers warm-ups + 90 mins + extra time + penalties.

The pre-match ritual:
At every venue, ball boys/refs place the Trionda on a charging pad/cradle ∼90 mins before kickoff. No charge = sensor won’t work. When not moving, it auto-switches to “hibernation mode” to save battery.

Other upgrades:
- 4-panel design for better flight stability
- Embossed icons for grip in wet conditions
- Colors: red for Canada maple leaf, green for Mexico eagle, blue for USA star

This is “Connected Ball Technology” v2. Qatar 2022 had it first with Al Rihla, but 2026’s sensor is on the side panel instead of center to fit the battery.

So refs now check ball pressure AND battery before kickoff 😂 First World Cup ball you plug in like a phone.
