When I think about my favorite rappers, there is generally one adjective that accurately articulates why they are superior to their peers – eloquence. The very definition of the word according to Dictionary (dot) com is "the practice or art of using language with fluency and aptness." And that is RUYONGA with such ability to enunciate with sniper-like accuracy.
KABALEGA. His newest album that dropped last Friday, 24 May 2024, opens with an Intro that is rich in indigenous whistling from Hoima, Masindi, Kaboohe, Kiruhura and other parts of the Western region. The Kitagururo beat that slides in gives it a Homecoming sound of a King that Ruyonga is. The melodic voice of Yvonne Kushe could never go unnoticed.
Rrruu sets himself apart on KITARA which features TRUTH 256 and Chief. Rrruuu delivers a god-like flow where he mixes English and Vernacular. It was on this song in an old video where he boasts "after this album, do not disturb me."
Josh Sb is to blame for setting Ruyonga up killing a skkkrrr-ssskkrr beat. He trapped on TELI KUZIKIZA and now rumour has it that no trapper is willing to attempt ever again.
Ruyonga's strengths lie in his unique flow, clever wordplay, and ability to paint vivid imagery with his lyrics. He often incorporates elements of his Faith and surrealism into his music, and THAT'S ALL I WANT is no different. It's a calm song where he airs out his questions about life and what he wants out of it.
SAALA, a love song featuring Ykee Benda comes No.8 on this tape. Ruyonga definitely has a way with words that would save most of the bros out there who have a long way in wooing a girl. "God must have made you on the 8th day, you're proof that He rested on the 7th to make something so precious. He had to first take a Break. I don't even know how He let you out of Heaven."
PARTE YANI cannot go unmentioned. This song ruled the airwaves of this country and still doing well. It features Zex Bilangilangi who gives a catchy hook and the chorus and Wonder JR serving another verse. The song is a rib-rattler littered with groovy vibes throughout. "Parte si parte paka nga tujiyingidemu." What. The...!
Something unique about this album, it does not have unnecessary skits or old recorded conversations behind the studio. You know it's hard to find an album nowadays without those filler audios. OK, we as fans, we don't like them.
Ruyonga's only problem is; that he makes rap seem too easy. Of course, this man has been "killing instrumentals since S.2" as he mentions on KWETEGA. Another party song on the album.
Often regarded as a rapper's rapper that’s frequently overlooked outside of the most informed hip-hop fans, Ruyonga is a legend in the UG hip-hop scene. It is hard to compare him to anyone. See, he went ahead to pick His crown. Dusted it. Sat on his throne and has refused to give it back.
Is it safe to say that Ruyonga is the Rap-god of U.G Hiphop?
The album has 11 tracks altogether that run for 35 minutes and 12 seconds only.
