You need a thick skin to work in “MARKETING”.
It’s one of the only careers where everyone thinks they can do your job.
“I use Instagram, so I know marketing.”
“I’d run the ad like this…”
“Here’s a better caption idea…”
“This design looks better.”
Would you say that to a surgeon? An electrician? An accountant?
Of course not. You respect their expertise, built from years of training and experience.
But in marketing? Opinions fly from every direction.
Challenge them, and you’re “defensive.”
Don’t challenge them, and your strategy gets watered down by people who don’t see the layers behind every decision - psychology, data, brand positioning, design, copy, customer journey, and ROI.
From the outside, marketing looks fun and easy. (It really is “fun” 😉)
In reality? It’s one of the most complex functions in a business.
Short-term growth and long-term trust.
