NUP PRINCIPAL KYAGULANYI GIVING HIS POLITICAL PERSPECTIVE:
➡️"We are thankful for our colleagues in the diaspora whom we met in Ottawa, Edmonton, Toronto, and so on. We discussed our hopes, achievements, and ongoing work as the NUP. Overall, the tour was a success.
👉🏿When we go to the diaspora, we are able to meet some people in forced exile. Some Ugandans are there because they cannot get what they want from the motherland, so we are finding ways to advance our struggle and ensure those in the diaspora make the most of their opportunities.
👉🏿I am not hesitant to say that I engage with the diaspora to weaken Museveni. We challenge him because many believe they are dealing with a leader chosen by the people and a government that upholds democratic principles, but that is not the case. I am committed to exposing the truth.
👉🏿Just as the evils of colonialism and apartheid had to be exposed before they could end, we are also revealing the wrongdoings of others to encourage them to do the right thing. If I weren't exposing these issues, my life may have been at greater risk, but now, perhaps they fear us because they know the whole world is watching.
➡️Thankfully, our efforts around the world have paid off, resulting in actions, for example, the sanctions on individuals like Speaker Among, Nandutu, and others, as well as the expulsion of ambassadors like the Ugandan envoy to Canada, and many people who are considered untouchable in this country.
👉🏿"The people tarnishing Uganda's image abroad are not those who bring the issues to light, but rather the perpetrators of wrongdoing themselves"~Robert Kyagulanyi, NUP President
