It’s sad that Zohran Mamdani has received little to no support from the Ugandan political and media class, or they’re waiting for him to win and will start fake-supporting? Anyways I’m not surprised, reminds me of when Anthony Joshua applied to compete for Nigeria in the 2012 Olympics and they denied him because ‘he wasn’t Nigerian enough’ only to later start claiming him when he became one of the biggest professional boxers in the world. Africa is like that, we celebrate mediocrity and turn a blind eye to things and people who matter

In Buganda there’s a saying ‘atanayitayita yatenda nyina okufumba’ which literally means ‘one who hasn’t left the house, their mum will be the best cook’. My school of thought is— some of you hate certain foods because your parents can’t cook well. Come fight me.
