Kitgum Joins Fight Against Cancer

Kitgum District and Municipality have joined the rest of Uganda in the annual fight against cancer.

The cancer run brought together political leaders, civil servants, NGOs, cooperative groups, Centenary Bank, the Office of the President, health workers, and community members to support people affected by cancer.

The run was led by Hon. Oryema Simon Peter Adum, MP for Chua West, who was the chief guest. He encouraged people to go for cancer screening and seek medical care early.

Hon. Simon Peter said early detection and regular screening can help save lives. He also encouraged the community to support efforts to improve cancer services.

The event was attended by His Worship Mayor Okwera Richard Ojara, Assistant RDC of Kitgum Mr. Okidi, Dr. Pamela Atim, Medical Director of St. Joseph’s Hospital Kitgum and members of the medical team.

UPDATE: Gulu City Joins National Fight Against Cancer

Today, Gulu City joined the rest of the nation in the fight against cancer through a run aimed at creating awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and screening.

The event, held at Kaunda Grounds in Gulu City, brought together residents and leaders who turned up to support the campaign and raise awareness across the City of Acholi and the country at large.

Speaking at the event, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) urged the public to prioritize early cancer screening, emphasizing that early detection can save lives.

The campaign comes at a time when the country continues to mourn the loss of King Tooro Oyoo Nyimba.
