*Bungokho North MP Donates Shs2 Million to Nakaloke Mosque Project* .

Hon. Shafiga Wanyenya, the MP for Bungokho North, has contributed Shs 2M towards the completion of the Nakaloke Center Mosque and pledged to champion Muslim interests in Parliament.

Wanyenya made the contribution on Friday during a fundraising drive for the completion of the mosque, an event presided over by the M***i of Uganda, H.E Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje.

Addressing the congregation, Wanyenya described Bungokho North as a predominantly Muslim constituency and said strengthening ties with the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) would benefit the area.

“Bungokho North as a constituency is predominantly Muslim. This support will bring the constituency closer to the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council,” she said.

The legislator also committed herself to advancing issues affecting Muslims through the Parliamentary Muslim Caucus.
“As a Muslim caucus in Parliament, we are well represented this time. We have 6 Muslim MPs from the Bugisu sub-region out of the 60 members in the Muslim Parliamentary Caucus. We shall endeavor to stand firm and push for the agendas of Muslims in Parliament,” Wanyenya said.

In his address, M***i Mubaje urged Muslims to stop relying entirely on donations from the Arab world and instead embrace a culture of giving through charity and zakat to support community projects.
“Do not wait for the Arab world to donate to Muslims through charity. Every Muslim has a responsibility to give. Giving comes from the heart."

According to Hajji Suleiman Herome, the chief coordinator of the fundraising committee, the mosque is designed to accommodate more than 5,000 worshippers upon completion, making it one of the largest Islamic worship centers in Bugisu.

Herome revealed that the project is estimated to cost Shs3.05b. To date, about Shs1.22 billion, representing 40% of the required funds, has been raised, leaving a balance of Shs1.83b.
