UPDATE: Outgoing Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) secretary general David Kabanda has revealed that he informed PLU Chairperson Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba of his intention to resign from the position before

making the decision public.

Speaking in an interview at the weekend, Kabanda claimed some individuals wanted to use the office for personal financial gain and viewed him as an obstacle. Gen Muhoozi has since appointed Fadil Twalla as the new PLU secretary general, noting in a post on X that Kabanda remains a member of the pressure group's Central Committee.
