Hon.Naome Kabasharira has this morning been declared the flag bearer for Rushenyi county in the hotly contested election.

The Ntungamo District NRM Returning Officer Maria Mirembe declared Hon.Kabasharira a winner securing 21310 votes , Nuwamanya Herbert Nyongozi 16702, Mubangizi Fideli 1325 and Nuwehereza Ambrose Kyenjoga 549.

After her victory,Hon.Kabasharira disclosed that in this election,the voters were more interested in money and not explanations about service delivery.

With this greedy for money,she registered her worries on the future of Rushenyi county and the country at large.

Hon.Kabasharira however revealed that for the first time in history,this election has been most peaceful ever calling upon fellow contestants to share the ideas on building a new Rushenyi era.

The EC chairperson for the ruling National Resistance Movement - NRM Dr. Tanga Odoi has condemned acts of violence that have marred the party’s primary elections in Ntungamo Municipality & entire district.
"NRM party elections should not be a do or die: party members are electing leaders not graves"

Dr Tanga Odoi made the remarks as he arrived in Ntungamo district to oversee the ongoing NRM elections today.
His warning follows yesterday's call from 1st Lady upon Ugandans especially from Ntungamo District to keep calm amid on going elections.

Ntungamo based - 99.3 Radio Ankole managing directors ; Hon. Mwesigwa Rukutana and Mr. Bob Kabonero have applauded the station fans,staff,business partners and listeners for the support amid achieving a 2 decade-time of active service.

The message was delivered by one of the managing directors,Mr.BobKabonero earlier today 5th July 2025 ,at the celebration of the station's 20th anniversary dubbed Kya Radio Ankole at Kyamate grounds Ntungamo, Municipality.

Mr. Bob Kabonero disclosed that the innovative idea was initiated by her late mother -Lay Can. Costance Kabonero andHon. Mwesigwa Rukutana,as away of solving the regional political instability.

He further revealed that Radio Ankole was established to educate,inform, and entertain the public which hass been incredibly done by its professional staff,including those who passed on,and the living up to the remarkable 20th anniversary.

Radio Ankole station manager - Elly Katahinga highlighted that Radio Ankole has been ranked the 2nd best station by IPSOS for 4 consecutive times,attributing the milestone to competent and professional skills emplored by the staff members. He thanked all staff members,citing the late Elliot Kabangira Magande-his predecessor ,late Thomas Musana ,Late Lay Costance Kabonero,late Beatrice Rukutana and late Wilson Tumusiime for the firm foundation laid for Radio Ankole.

He thankedDirectors and administrators for employing a significant number of staff members who have contributed to the national development.

He applauded support of the audience for over 20yrs.

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament - Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa has applauded the Directors, Hon. Mwesigwa Rukutana and Hon. Bob Kabonero for innovation to start up Ntungamo based 99.3 Radio Ankole, a station known for educating and sensitizing the general public especially about public order and preservation of regional culture.

He remarked earlier today while speaking as the chief guest at Kyamate grounds Ntungamo, municipality as the station year marked her 20th anniversary dubbed Kya Ankole.

Hon. Tayebwa hailed Radio Ankole, for among others,supporting government programs and professional service rendered by the station presenters.

Tayebwa also handed over a brandnew Senke motorcycle to Immaculate Natukunda,a resident of Ntungamo Municipality who won the anniversary ruffle game that involved buying a ruffle at Ugx.2000= to enter the jackpot and standing chances of winning gifts icluding TV sets,Radios,mobile phones and several others.

He also led "slicing off the cake,with station directors andd administration representatives in the early evening hours.
Kya has attracted thousands of people to yearmark two decades of active service.

Thousands of people have turned up at Kyamate grounds Ntungamo, municipality today as Radio Ankole 99.3 year marked the first anniversary celebration after decades of active service, dubbed Kya Radio Ankole.

The South Ankole diocesan Bishop Rt.Rev.Nathan Ahimbisibwe led the opening prayer,shortly after refreshment and lunch earlier today.

H applauded the The station Managing director Hon. Mwesigwa Rukutana and his co-associate, Hon. Bob Kabonero upon innovation to start up Radio Ankole,,a station that has united all citizens despite origin,religion and social differences.

Bishop Ahimbisibwe also hailed Radio Ankole for the cooperation and airtime offered to the religious flatternity to preach the God's word.

However,he called upon all citizens to emplore their talents for betterment of the nation,without tampering their fellows.

The Ntungamo District Kadhi, Sheikh Swalleh Kashangirwe applauded Radio Ankole presenters for professional skills at work.
He noted that such commitment has won a credible position in the international community.
He sighted out a need for extensive coverage off Radio Ankole ahead of the third decade of service.

Ntungamo based Radio Ankole,located in cell 9 , victor bwana Rd, celebrating 20 years sets a great record ahead of the next stages of service delivery and informing the international community.
Kya Radio Ankole has attracted thousands of religious ,political and cultural leaders among others.
