Former Makerere Vice Chancellor Prof. Luboobi Dies

Former Makerere University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Livingstone Luboobi, has died. He served from 2004 to 2009, steering the institution through key reforms. A respected Mathematics scholar, Prof. Luboobi is remembered for his outstanding leadership and academic contribution.

Eulogy for Justice Prof. George Kanyeihamba (1939–2025)

A towering jurist, fearless voice for justice, and architect of Uganda’s 1995 Constitution — Prof. George Kanyeihamba has rested.
From the courtroom to the classroom, he stood unwavering for rule of law, human rights, and judicial independence.
His legacy will live on in every page of the Constitution, in every courageous dissent, and in every young legal mind he mentored.

Yesterday, January 23, 2025, I had the privilege of meeting with President YK Museveni at Kityerera State Lodge in Mayuge for a media engagement, where I brought to his attention the pressing issue of eviction threats faced by over 40 villages at the hands of politicians, land grabbers, and the National Forestry Authority's security, resulting in loss of lives. I'm deeply saddened to announce the passing of my dear friend who on many occasions refered to me as colleague, Dr. Frank Nabwiso. His untimely death has left me in shock and dismay.

As a regular guest on my radio shows on Smart FM and NBS Radio, Dr. Nabwiso's insightful contributions and expertise were invaluable. His presence on the show was always met with enthusiasm and respect from our listeners, who appreciated his thoughtful analysis and opinions.

Dr. Nabwiso's passing is not only a personal loss for me, but also a tremendous loss for our community. His wealth of knowledge, kindness, and generosity will be deeply missed.

I extend my heartfelt condolences to Dr. Nabwiso's family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. May his legacy continue to inspire and educate us, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.

Hon. Matembe: When you're drunk with power, you stop reasoning well, and that's exactly what's happening with the NRM government. How can someone move with guns and pass through airport security at Entebbe and in Kenya without being noticed? Moreover, they even check into a hotel with those guns, whereas here in Bugolobi, at Silver Springs, you're required to surrender your gun first. Hon. Matembe: Mr. Museveni has approached me multiple times, wanting me to return. However, I've consistently reminded him that we initially agreed on principles, and I cannot simply go back to someone who deviated from the original Ten-Point Smart program. Unfortunately, he is not open to advice.
