.
The David Kijanangoma name is not new to Tooro’s succession politics. We have learnt that previously Prince David became one of the most outspoken figures challenging Oyo’s position and at one point declared his own ambition to become King of Tooro.

The dispute became highly public, with disagreements over the direction of the kingdom and the role of members of the royal household, worst still the Rwengoma Palace also became associated with David’s activities, adding further tension to an already divided royal household.
However despite the challenges, the late Oyo remained the recognised Omukama until his death.

David Kijanangoma who is a UBC TV journalist will inherit not only the King's crown but also the enormous responsibility of navigating a kingdom whose royal family has experienced significant internal disagreements in recent years.
