🚨Kampala to Celebrate Car-Free Day🚨

Kampala, Uganda – Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) has announced that the much-anticipated Kampala Car Free Day will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

This year's event carries the theme "Celebrate Safe Streets," emphasizing the importance of creating a sustainable and pedestrian-friendly urban environment.

The Car-Free Day aims to promote walking, cycling, and other non-motorized forms of transportation, while also reducing air pollution and traffic congestion. The event encourages residents to reclaim their streets and enjoy a day free from the noise and hazards of vehicular traffic.

KCCA invites everyone to participate in this citywide initiative. Stay tuned for more updates and details about the event.

What's On Kampala

Ugandan entrepreneur, Jamila Mayanja, has developed a waterproof, solar-powered bag made from recycled materials to help girls stay in school.

With 12,000 bags distributed so far, Mayanja hopes to reach a million girls across East Africa. Each bag includes a solar panel to charge a lamp, reusable sanitary pads, a menstrual hygiene booklet, and a sewing kit. [BBC Africa]

This is a great initiative that is helping girls in need. Let's support Jamila Mayanja and the SMART GIRLS Foundation Uganda!
