This. This is what it's all about.

Went to Truluck's tonight for our anni (one of our favorites in Austin). Besides the best food and service ever, this couple sat across from us. They held hands even while they were eating. If we are on our 21st anniversary, they are on their...what? 50th? We couldn't quit watching them. True love lives. It can last. It can thrive. You can still hold hands while eating dinner one day when your kids are long grown and gone. We hope to be this example to some "young" couple on their 21st anniversary one day.

This morning at the Special Olympics we had the pleasure of eating lunch with some of the athletes. At our table, there was a very special woman named Kate. While introducing my family to her, she saw someone over my shoulder and started jumping up and down and cheering and pointing. She screamed "HIM! ITS HIM!" She had limited verbal ability but she started mimicking slow-dancing and her coach told me that they danced last night at the opening ceremonies. She just kept pointing at him and saying "I'M FOR HIM! AND HE'S FOR ME!" with a huge grin on her face. This went on for about 20 minutes while we are our sandwiches. She kept tapping me and then pointing to him and smiling, mimicking the slow dancing moves, then "I'M FOR HIM! and...and HE'S FOR ME!" It was one of the sweetest displays of love I've seen in a long time. And I thought about how much sweeter my own marriage would be if that was what we kept at the forefront of our minds. Not the stressors of life or the nagging or dirty socks left on the floor. Just this:

I'm for him, and he's for me.

At lunch today, this couple sat across from us and held hands like this for the entire 20 minutes until their food came out. They didn't speak much...just gazed at each other with lips gently curled into happy lovesick grins.

How many years do you think they've been married? I wonder what sort of storms they've weathered together over the years. This sight makes my heart flutter.
