1. Regarding Motus and Waiver:

Motus

The article in this section reads, in part:

Motus is a new single entry point for a wide variety of interactions with registration systems and other FMCSA tools needed by the trucking community. It launched May 14.

But complaints and comments in social media have quickly made it clear the rollout has not been going well. And in the past week, the agency responded with its two statements.

Well, I can't say I'm surprised.

How many other government-based "solutions" for the trucking industry have rolled out well?

I would love to hear from professional truck drivers as to how much money and time MOTUS will save them.

ATRI Seeks Motor Carrier and Truck Driver Insight on Adoption of Onboard Safety Technologies

Washington, DC – The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) is conducting a follow-up survey to motor carriers and truck drivers on adoption levels and user perspectives for onboard safety technologies. The research is part of the ongoing TechCelerate program, which is sponsored by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). The TechCelerate research team includes ATRI, ATA’s Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) and the OOIDA Foundation.

This follow-up survey on industry adoption of onboard safety systems will allow the research team to compare and contrast updated findings with the original TechCelerate survey conducted in 2023. The two surveys will also help the research team to improve messaging and issue resolution, with the goal of improving truck safety and efficiency.

The Motor Carrier survey helps identify which safety technologies are most and least preferred by motor carriers, and what issues and perspectives they’ve encountered relating to truck driver acceptance, repair & maintenance and safety benefits – among other topics. The survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. The motor carrier survey can be found here - https://www.research.net/r/2026-MC-ADAS-Survey

The Truck Driver survey focuses on truck driver familiarity and experiences with the onboard safety technologies, and which technologies had the most and fewest safety benefits, from a driver’s perspective. The truck driver survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. The truck driver survey can be found here -
https://www.research.net/r/2026-Driver-ADAS

ATRI is the trucking industry’s 501c3 not-for-profit research organization. It is engaged in critical research relating to freight transportation’s essential role in maintaining a safe, secure and efficient transportation system.

1. Regarding Brokers, BUILD America 250 Act, and Memorial Day:
Brokers
From the third article in this section, here's a summary of this topic:
Transportation attorney Greg Feary breaks down the recent Supreme Court decision that brokers can be held liable for damages in truck accidents and what it means for the trucking industry going forward.
Let's hope that this "correction" will lead to more just and good "corrections" for professional truck drivers and the trucking industry.

As Vicki has written in her TDMST Weekly Round-Up trucking commentaries many, many times, she completely opposes autonomous, driverless, or self-driving commercial motor vehicles on the public roads.

Here is a recent post on Facebook on this topic:
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CvutHkwx9/

The government is officially preparing America for driverless trucks.

Government officials recently met with leaders from autonomous truck companies to discuss how self-driving trucks will operate on American roads and what rules need to change to make it possible.

As someone who covers trucking technology and translates it into regular people’s language on Chris Kuna Drive and Driverness, this is one of the biggest shifts happening in transportation right now.

The goal is to bring autonomous trucking into everyday life using AI, wireless communication, and smarter highway technology. Instead of relying on a human driver to inspect the truck or hand over paperwork at weigh stations, these trucks use sensors, cameras, and live data systems to monitor themselves in real time.

Some of the biggest changes and exemptions being discussed or already approved include:

• No Hours of Service rules because there is no human driver getting tired behind the wheel
• No drug testing requirements for a non-existent driver
• AI systems constantly checking brakes, tires, weight, and mechanical health
• Trucks sending wireless safety data directly to DOT and weigh stations
• Highway sensors automatically scanning trucks at full speed without stopping them
• Some roadside emergency rules being waived, such as placing warning triangles during breakdowns
• Expanded approval for autonomous trucking operations across more than 25 states

Instead of traditional inspections, autonomous trucks rely on connected infrastructure, AI-powered safety systems, and specialized inspection teams before the truck even leaves the terminal.

This technology is moving much faster than most people realize.
The trucking industry and the government are now actively working together to build the legal and safety framework for driverless freight in America.

Follow Chris Kuna Drive and Driverness for more behind-the-scenes updates explaining how autonomous trucking will affect drivers, carriers, and everyday people.

I am not an alarmist, but I am a woman of faith who believes in preparation.

The author of the article linked below believes that an "engine oil shortage" is coming and could cripple transportation.

Do you agree or disagree?

1. Regarding Brokers, Cabotage, and Motus:

Brokers

This section covers, among other things, information related to what is covered in this article entitled US Supreme Court rules brokers can be held liable in accidents, one quote being:

The U.S. Supreme Court on May 14 ruled that freight brokers can be held liable for negligence under state laws for highway accidents.

Do you consider this to be a positive or negative?

1. Regarding Carbon, Fuel, Iran, Oil:

Based on my limited reading, it seems to me that people around the world are reeling from the illegal, immoral, and unconstitutional war of aggression against Iran that was started by U.S. President Donald J. Trump.

Supply chains have been disrupted and the price of fuel, oil, other products, and various services have risen sharply, as shown in the articles in this section.

If this situation bothers you, please contact your federal elected officials.
