Welcome to the red light district. Tracking some guitar this fine evening.

Happy Holidays to you and yours! Though a bit behind on the news, the new recording space has been built and with some testing and additional bass trapping is sounding tight and right. Here's a few current shots of the new room and the control room. Now booking for 2019.
Kim recording some sparkling acoustic guitar in the new space.
Though you haven't heard from us lately, we've been busy. Here is the construction process for the new room, May through August 2018.
Coming soon, the long planned and awaited voiceover/tracking space! First step was in dealing with airflow for new space and control room. That is nearly complete. After that, we begin framing the new room.
This week marked the arrival of additional acoustic panels and the second monitor. With all the work complete and the studio up and running, it's about time to show a few pics of the finished space.
Studio Construction Days 6-8. From drywall to done. Except for a few minor touchups here and there, the room is now complete. It's been quite a process to put this space together and this weekend, the music making gear will be moving back in. It wouldn't have happened without contractor Jerry Smith, his hard work and reception to design improvement ideas. Clients, we're once again ready for you!
Studio Construction Day 5. It's all about the drywall and caulking. Two walls complete, 1 more layer to go on ceiling and front wall.
Studio Construction Day 4. The work went necessarily slower today as we're getting into a more detail oriented phase of tasks. Mounting the drywall must account for the non parallel wall angles, so we need to take it easy and get it right the first time.
Studio Construction Day 3. Quite the transformation day as the framing is finished and the soundproofing elements start to get layered in.
Studio Construction Day 2. Framing nearly completed, adding the last wall will reduce parallel surfaces in the room to zero. Lighting/fan electrical installed and tested, soundproofing materials delivered.
Day 1 of studio construction. Most of the new framing is up. Both walls and the ceiling are angled to create non parallel surfaces. This is going to be a great little space when finished!
Beginning. Studio area cleared for soundproofing construction, starting today. Production will be offline for about a week.
Surprised tonight while watching 'Jeopardy' when music I produced for a radio jingle came on as the music bed for client's TV commercial. Still thrilling after all these years!
After a long hiatus where our sole web presence was here on Facebook, the Barrett Tone Audio web site is once again live. Check it out and give us a like.

Today brought a diversion from our usual audio work on apps. Spent the day producing a radio jingle, destined to soon annoy you via your local SF bay area stations.
We're going under the sea for one of our projects. More info as it surfaces.

Happy Holidays! Looking back over 2012, this has definitely been the year of voice direction. While many clients had us do music and/or sound effects for their projects, every client required voice talent direction and session coordination. Thank you for your trust, it's our pleasure to create quality audio for you.
While waiting for a genius bar appointment at the local Apple store last week, picked up one of their display iPads to find not one, but two apps that we produced audio for installed. Thanks Apple!
Projects have been coming in fast and furious for most of the year. Now for the most part caught up, it's time to address updating the business website (old and Flash based) to something a bit more user friendly.
The first three titles for Living Books went live in the Apple App Store last weekend. Worked on some of the original titles while at Brøderbund and also reworked some music for these updated apps. Your kids are going to love them!

Today's assignment: A couple of dozen sound effects for a soon to be new iPad app. Instructions: Ratchet the cuteness factor up to 'high'. We're on it.

It's a great feeling when a large company known for their beloved characters asks us to cast and direct the narration voiceover that ties their project's storyline together. Even better when their last minute sound effect requests are immediately and enthusiastically approved.
Always know that Toy Fair is drawing near when we get inundated with lots of small 'tweak this' jobs as clients seek last minute improvements to their projects. The funny thing is that a fair percentage of the original audio work for these jobs was done elsewhere. Still, no job is too small to build or maintain a reputation on.
Just returned from the NAMM show in Anaheim. Many new friends and contacts established. The amazing new gear on display was rivaled only by the inspiring live music performances throughout all four days of the show. Feet tired, but mind and spirit are energized beyond belief. Rock on 2012!
Congrats to Noodleworks once again for winning the KAPi 2012 best educational product award for Noodle Words set 1. The app is wildly entertaining with great graphics and animation. The audio isn't too shabby either. New projects and worlds to conquer continue to roll in here. Happy New Year to all and may your 2012 be as good as it sounds.
Taking a break to note with delight that one of our recent projects has been released and is available at the iTunes app store as of today. Congratulations Noodleworks!

A good month so far. The sonic arsenal just got exponentially larger and the workflow remains consistent. Creating finishing touches audio for an app that's nearing release and two new projects to bite into. Working around some travel this week, though the transit time allows for perusing what's possible with these sweet new tools. Tomorrow will sound even better than today.
Been awhile since our last post, but not due to lack of projects. Completely the opposite. Just wrapped the first of three dialog sessions this week with a plateful of sound design work to see the remainder through. Demand is good and supply is willing.
Much variety on the plate over the last month, from bugs to babies, fairies to firefighters, even a beloved character your children all know. They start as ideas, silent animations or words printed on paper. Audio is what brings them all to life and the transformation is always fascinating.
More app audio work continues to roll in through June and beyond. It has allowed the acquisition of a new tool or two to get better or more efficient results in the studio. It's still gear lust, but with purpose.
