Last night, in a nearly empty bar in Hood River, Oregon, I ended up talking about pie -- buttermilk vs. sugar cream -- with the two other visitors and the bartender. The difference between them, what region they're from, the pies of our area versus those in other parts of the US. It was a tiny Statesider type summit (me, my travel companion, a guy drinking beer from a can, and the bartender).
