Honestly, photos can’t do it justice, but here’s a start!
There is something really otherworldly about Alaska - it’s a truly breathtaking place from land and sea. During our trip, we did spend a lot of time on the water - a whale watch in Juneau, fishing in Ketchikan, and staying aboard our ship for a beautiful day in Glacier Bay. But the land is quite incredible, too - pictured here are some stops in Tongass National Forest (a rainforest, which I didn’t think possible in cooler climates, but it was so lush and beautiful - it felt like we stumbled into some magical animated movie). We also spent a lovely day eating and shopping in Skagway - one of the friendliest places I’ve ever been. (And it also looked like a movie set, retaining its “Wild West” charm).
I really love to travel (obviously), but I wasn’t sure about a cool weather trip (especially after a long winter), but this was amazing on so many levels! The weather surprised me (warmer than I thought - but, still bring warm layers!), more beautiful than I could have imagined, and more relaxing than I anticipated. It might not have been all warm sunshine and lounge chairs - but the relaxed day at sea while learning about the Glaciers from the Park Rangers that joined us on board (and from the comfort of our Balcony, with an amazing view), the hospitality of everyone on board and in our ports, and even our tours and excursions were fun filled but relaxing. Our guide for the hike and whale watch let us linger in places that were interesting. Our fishing boat found a good spot and floated for a bit while we fished and got to know our fellow sailors.
It was truly a special trip and a special place. If you’ve been thinking about booking a trip there — let’s talk!
