🚨 MISSING TEEN: ALEXANDRIA POLICE ASK FOR PUBLIC’S HELP

ALEXANDRIA, La. — The Alexandria Police Department is asking for help locating 17-year-old Qua’von Bacon.

Qua’von was last seen Thursday, September 3, near the 1200 block of Maryland Avenue in Alexandria.

He is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and approximately 125 pounds.

Police say Qua’von has ties to the Marksville area, and investigators believe he may currently be in or around Marksville.

The board is scheduled to consider several items involving Alexandria International Airport, property leases, military operations and new rules governing public demonstrations on district property.

Among today’s agenda items:

• Presentation by Robinson Biochar
• Runway 18 extension and associated improvements at Alexandria International Airport
• Proposed lease with CSI Aviation
• Proposed lease with the United States for the JRTC Intermediate Staging Base
• Proposed new regulations governing public demonstrations, protests, rallies, vigils and picketing on property owned or controlled by the England Authority
• Financial, planning and development, economic development, and air traffic/service reports

The proposed public-demonstration rules include a permitting process for certain planned demonstrations and restrictions on demonstrations in airport terminals and other designated areas.

DO YOU FEEL SAFE IN ALEXANDRIA? And do you believe there are enough police officers on the streets to keep the city safe?

We’re live from the Alexandria City Council meeting tonight, where two discussions deserve close attention.

Before the regular meeting, Louisiana Central President & CEO Christopher Masingill is scheduled to update the Economic, Workforce and Planning Development Committee. The committee is also scheduled to receive the administration’s quarterly report on minority contracts and permits.

Then comes Agenda Item 14, concerning changes to the Alexandria Police Department’s Recruitment and Retention Policies and Initiative for recruiting POST-certified officers.

But beyond the proposed incentive, UrbanCast wants answers about actual police staffing.

How many officers is APD really short? Reports have suggested the department could be approximately 60 sworn officers short. Is that number accurate? If not, what is the number?

And we want to see the trend. What was APD’s authorized strength versus its actual number of sworn officers at the beginning of 2024, 2025 and 2026, and where does that number stand today?

Other important questions: APD has reportedly hired 20 or more officers this year, but how many remain? After resignations, retirements, terminations and transfers, what is APD’s net gain or loss for 2026? How many officers are actually available for patrol on an average shift?

And if qualifying POST-certified recruits can receive up to $25,000, how much could the program ultimately cost, where will the money come from, and what is being done to retain experienced officers already serving Alexandria?

The number hired tells only part of the story. The public needs to know how many officers Alexandria actually has, how many it needs and whether staffing is improving or declining.
