Peabody's homecoming parade has been canceled due to what the City of Alexandria says is a "credible security threat."
🔷️News release from the city: CANCELLED: "Peabody Magnet High School Homecoming ParadeParade Cancelled Due to Credible Threat
After careful coordination between the City of Alexandria, the Alexandria Police Department, public safety officials from various agencies, and the principal of Peabody Magnet High School, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Peabody Magnet High School Homecoming Parade, originally scheduled for Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., due to a credible security threat.
The Peabody Homecoming Parade has long been a treasured tradition - one that celebrates school pride and brings families and neighbors together. However, our shared responsibility to protect students, families, and citizens must always come first.
Alexandria’s strength has always come from its people - from the way we look out for one another and put safety first. That commitment will not waver.
While this decision was not easy, it reflects our belief that celebrations should always honor the community without putting the community at risk.
Thank you for your understanding, your support, and your commitment to keeping Alexandria safe."
