UPDATE: Multiple people said at least one person appeared to have been shot near the Chevron at Fenner & Mason. No other details have been confirmed. If we receive more information from city officials, we will update you promptly.

Alexandria, La. (Sept. 12, 2025) – A significant police presence was reported Friday evening around 7:00 p.m. at the Chevron gas station located at the corner of Fenner and Mason streets in Alexandria.

Multiple police units, fire, and EMS were on scene. Officers appeared to be searching the grass lot area in front of the Chevron station.

At this time, no details have been released regarding the reason for the response or what authorities were searching for. This is a developing story.

🦅 Injured Bald Eagle Rescued in Vernon Parish, now safe thanks to quick action from VPSO and Wildlife & Fisheries.

BALD EAGLE RESCUE

At approximately 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025 the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office was contacted by a motorist in the area of Highway 28 East and Highway 465.

The caller indicated that a bald eagle was in the roadway and appeared to be injured.

VPSO Deputy Lynn Bennett responded to the location and was able to locate and secure the injured bird.

Agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries were notified and arrived to take control of and transport the injured eagle to a rehabilitation facility in Baton Rouge.

🙏 Bunkie Officers Save Alexandria Woman in Crisis 🙏

Bunkie Police say officers responded Friday morning to a suicidal woman on South Knoll Street. As she fired a shot into the air, officers acted quickly, using less-lethal rounds to disarm her and prevent tragedy.

She was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries and a mental health evaluation. No officers were hurt.

Assistant Chief Brandon Horton praised the officers’ professionalism and thanked Bunkie Fire & Rescue and Acadian Ambulance for their quick support.

🚨 Webster Parish: Camp Minden Threat 🚨

A 21-year-old man was arrested after allegedly threatening to “shoot up the school” at the NLTC campus on Camp Minden. Deputies found 950 rounds of ammo in his car but no gun.

Sheriff Parker, citing the recent Utah shooting death, said threats like this will not be tolerated.

🚨 Two school incidents in Ouachita Parish lead to student arrests.

A teen at West Ouachita High was arrested after a threat to “shoot up the school.”

At East Ouachita Middle, two students found a gun in a desk, and it discharged, leaving another student with a minor injury.

Extra deputies are now on both campuses. Investigations are still active.
