Here is an update on where things stand with our road situation. Please spread this to as many people as you know who were affected by the McHenry County Department of transportation ruling regarding their road jurisdiction. The more people we can get to band together the more successful we will be. There is light at the end of the tunnel!

Improvement or Maintenance? What say you?

03/24/2026

The Algonquin Township Road District budget is over $3.2 million to maintain 55 miles of roads, which works out to over $59,000 per mile of road maintained. Our neighbors in Nunda and Grafton Township have budgets of $38,000 and $25,000 per mile, respectively. So while we are the "richest" township in McHenry County, our Road Commissioner can't afford to help with our roads. Even though the law clearly allows it.

I visited our friends at the McHenry County board meeting last night to speak on behalf of our forgotten community. Eventually I'll rattle enough cages to get something done around this place!

"Since when did following the law become optional?"I finally took the fight for Algonquin Hills to the McHenry County Board. For years, the Algonquin Townshi...

I stopped by the Algonquin Township Road District yesterday morning to see if Ms. Sandberg was available to speak with me about our road situation. Turns out she was working remotely due to the poor road conditions, while her crews had been out all night plowing and salting the roads. Now that's real leadership!

Episode 2 is live! Learn more about MFT funding, why our highway commissioner voluntarily ended services that her department offered residents for 40 years, and watch the McHenry County Transportation Committee confirm what I’ve been saying all along - the paving improvement to Linden Ave and Victor Place in 2012 automatically triggered a change in road jurisdiction per Illinois state law. Yet, all parties involved are pretending they never saw, heard, or know anything.

Remember to like and share this post! We need more people to see our story.

In 2012, Algonquin Township spent just under $30,000 of your tax money paving a nondedicated road. It was fast, it was quiet, and it was legal. The problem? A...
