Fans weigh in on barren fall sports season at GV

Perhaps the most consequential decision brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic was to cancel fall sports. While student athletes and coaches have been affected the most by a lack of sports, there’s still another question to be asked: What about the Laker fans and students who love GVSU athletics?

There is little doubt that the fall 2020 semester at Grand Valley State University has felt foreign to many students and teachers. With many classes online and social distancing limiting students’ ability to meet and converse, it doesn’t even feel like a normal semester at college. This feeling ...

So relevant! 2019 Great Lakes History Conference (Trauma and Gender) Sept. 20-21
Grand Valley Lanthorn . . . I'm a proud alumni, an Irwin Club Donor, an alumni Cheerleader, ex captain of the hockey club, wife of another GVSU Alumni and proud parent of a Laker but also a proud parent of a Cardinal at SVSU. I have seen TWO incidences now of GVSU embarrassing me as a lifetime Laker for Life. One was at the Dodge Ball Tournament this past weekend when GVSU played SVSU and in the last chance of playing another game, GVSU just had SVSU throw at them so they could practice catching It was disrespectful and cocky to say the least and I was in the audience cheering for both SVSU (had a son on the team) and GVSU, as a Laker for Life myself. Now I see this article in the Lanthorn where GVSU is accusing SVSU of more or less "cheating in the BOV Fundraising?" Do you have proof? Is this a fair accusation? I sure am hoping so! So sad to me that GVSU is now cancelling the BOV Fundraising? Not impressive GVSU, not impressive! While you are casting stones (hopefully with proof), you are now not participating in the raising $1,000's of dollars to help others! Bad call! #notimpressed #lakerforlife #rethinkthis #NOTanchorsup

Hi! My name is Anthony Wolbert and I am a 2010 graduate of Grand Valley State University. I’m currently a middle school science teacher in Sturgis, Mi. I am asking for your help and support! I am competing to be 1 of 2 people in North America to be selected to win a trip to Sweden to go dog sledding and survive the arctic for a week. This is an incredible opportunity not only for myself but also for my middle school students. There are so many topics that I will get to share with my students from the mental and physical struggles to the interviews with the experts and other participants from around the world. I am currently 3rd in all of North America and 36th in the world. I need you to vote for me (it only lets you vote once) and then share it as much as you can over the next 15 days. The contest ends on the 14th of December. I have included the link, and also have created a page "Anthony's Adventures" that has the link to vote and some of the recent headlines. Thank you if you have already voted and shared. Please share as much as possible over the next couple weeks! I definitely appreciate your support.
This in response to the editorial on the #metoo campaign This goes past Weinstein James Toback now has 30 plus accusers Talent agent Tyler Grasham was fired after being accused of sex crimes with minors It's women, men and children being attacked In Hollywood unfortunately if the predator has power a lot of people want the accusations squashed. So it makes them hard to prove If one comes forward even if it's true it could be bye bye career Some victims can't afford to do that It's beyond sad and sickening A great documentary to watch on this is an open secret It's free on Vimeo until Halloween
