Apparently my fall porch decorating idea starts with a pile of giant branches…and I realize how ridiculous that sounds. 😂 I wanted to create something completely different for our
front porch this fall, but first I had to figure out how to make these huge branches usable and build the frame for what I had in my head. I used the Milwaukeetool M18 FUEL Super Sawzall from HomeDepot to cut down the branches and PVC, and being cordless made it so much easier to move around while I worked. The project you’re overthinking could be the beginning of a life you cannot see yet. I started sharing DIY projects to save money and make our builder-grade house feel like home. That decision eventually led to Home Depot partnerships, commercials and this summer’s Unmatched World Cup experience—the biggest creator gathering I’ve ever attended.

If you’re waiting until the idea is perfect or you feel completely qualified, start anyway. You may think you’re just painting a room, building a table or sharing a project, but you truly have no idea where it could take you. What are you glad you started before you felt ready?

If decluttering feels overwhelming, don’t start with the whole room. Start with the drawer you keep aggressively closing and pretending doesn’t exist. This kitchen junk drawer took a few minutes, but that little reset gave me the momentum to keep going. Home organization does not have to mean tackling your entire house in one day—one small space can make your home feel more functional and a little less chaotic.

A styled table should make daily life feel better—not give you another chore. Since this is where we eat, do homework and gather every day, I kept this fall tablescape practical: machine-washable placemats, simple place settings and a low centerpiece that can stay put during dinner. Ready for fall, but has the summer suitcase been unpacked? 😂 Bringing this closet cleanup back because putting things away counts as getting ready for a new season, too. No major closet makeover here—just unpacking a suitcase and getting things back where they belong.

I’ve decorated this porch for years, but the part that makes it feel finished is invisible in daylight. I found this old clip and remembered why changing the exterior lights for fall is one of my favorite little details. The porch is pretty during the day, but pulling into a house that already feels like fall at night? That is the magic.

I turned 40 and realized motivation was not coming to save me. If I wanted to feel stronger, move more and stay consistent, I needed to make wellness easier to fit into my actual life. That is why I created a Pilates studio at home—a space where I can stretch, build strength and get in a workout without adding one more place to drive. Do I magically want to work out every day now? Absolutely not. Pilates will still have me face-down on the mat questioning my choices. But I’m learning that wellness after 40 is less about doing everything perfectly and more about continuing to show up. What helps you stay consistent?

I was ready to style this eat-in kitchen for fall…until I looked at the rug. The rug was dirty, the curtains looked cheap, and the chairs needed cleaning. No amount of fall décor was going to make this space feel finished until I handled that first. A little cleaning and a few thoughtful swaps took this dining area from neglected to cozy and intentional. Which made the biggest difference to you: the rug, curtains, or cleaned chairs?
