[COVERING TRAUMATIC EVENTS] After two years, I have finally completed my Master of Journalism degree from the Missouri School of Journalism! My research focused on journalists who cover traumatic events and culminated in a 300-page report. This video is what I showed my committee to lead into what would be my full report from interviews with nearly 100 journalists. Sixty percent remained anonymous. I’ve put together this resource page journalists can utilize:

It’s time we start talking about the mental health of journalists who cover traumatic events.
Thank you to my committee: Dr. Stacey Woelfel, Dr. Keith Greenwood and Kathryn Lucchesi.
Thank you to those who allowed me to interview you on camera: Poynter's Al Tompkins, ABC Australia's Heather Forbes, Fred Shropshire WCNC, MyMobileLyfe's Rick Hancock, Annaliese Garcia, Daniel Brown, Brian Wiedeke, Hayden Ristevski, Mike Walter, Erin Daley, REBOOT Recovery's Brad Borders, Healium's Sarah Hill.
To all the journalists who took the time to fill out the survey, zoom with me and open up about difficult topics, I am grateful for your vulnerability and honesty. Your work is important and your mental health matters.
