Today has the potential to become a dangerous severe weather day across parts of the Midwest, with the Storm Prediction Center maintaining a MODERATE RISK (Level 4 of 5) for portions of Illinois and Indiana.

An intense overnight storm complex has already produced measured wind gusts over 80 MPH, including a 94 MPH wind gust in Iowa. As the atmosphere recovers behind the morning storms, conditions are expected to become increasingly favorable for powerful supercells this afternoon and evening.
