Today I had the chance to catch up with an Alvin-area legend — Stephen Collins — and shake his hand to congratulate him on 35 years of dedicated service to The Alvin Sun and Advertiser.

Back in the good ol’ days before Facebook and Instagram, if you were lucky enough to be mentioned in the newspaper, you had to sprint 🏃 around town to the local distribution boxes with a pocket full of quarters — grabbing every copy you could to mail off to Grandma and the rest of the family. 😂🤣

Stephen has spent decades capturing the hearts of our community, covering local sports, and featuring athletes like myself and so many others. Thank you, Stephen, for your tireless work and for always shining a light on the stories that make Alvin special.

My wife Monica and I had a wonderful morning at Operation Backpack with Alvin ISD. It was inspiring to see so many local businesses, elected officials, first responders, and public servants come together to serve students in need. This is what makes our community truly special.

I’ve been part of Operation Backpack 🎒 for many years. Back 2017 I served as Chairman of the Alvin YMCA, we distributed around 500 backpacks to local students. Today, this incredible event has grown and helps provide over 3,500 backpacks—an amazing testament to how far we've come and how deeply this community cares.

Alvin shows up for one another. That’s what makes this such a great place to live and raise a family. I’m honored to have participated again this year—and already looking forward to the next.

TOUCH A TRUCK & TRACTOR! The Alvin Volunteer Fire Department will have Tower 1 at the farm along with multiple tractors from Alvin Equipment Company.

Continuing to improve our historical downtown📸🏆

Thank you to the Alvin Historical Museum Society all the volunteers that made this project possible. This project took two years to bring to life and was made possible through the support of several local businesses and organizations committed to preserving Alvin’s history.

Special thanks to Hawkins Leasing Equipment for donating their time and services to help mount and install the exhibit. We appreciate your contribution to this meaningful project.

New business coming to Alvin!!

Foul Play Sports Bar coming soon. I don't have a ton of information about this new business, but I'm excited to see people continuing to invest in our community.

This business is located in the same strip Center as Happy Takos and Hot Worx. This is across Hwy 35 from chocolate Bayou Credit Union.

There are many other small and large projects continuing to make progress in our area. I will do my best to keep you all informed.
