Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986)
In 1986, filmmaker Tobe Hooper returned to the barbecue with the sequel to his 1974 groundbreaking scarefest 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'. This time, the cannibalistic Sawyer family bbq has added smooth & sultry disc jockey Stretch to their guest list.
After she receives a disturbing phone call to the radio station during her show, Stretch, a Texas DJ, informs the police that she has taped the phone call. After following Texas Lawman, Lefty's instructions to air the tape of the phone call, Chop-Top & Leatherface pay a visit to the radio station confronting Stretch and her co-worker L.G.
L.G. doesn't survive the encounter, Stretch finds herself at the Sawyer family's new lair, an abandoned cavernous amusement park, and Texas Ranger Lefty is in hot pursuit with a vendetta that goes well beyond the oath of his call of duty.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 has no shortage of gore but is a significant change in tone from the 1974 masterpiece. Hitting beats of terror as well as levity, TCM2's humorous but sometimes silly tone disarms the impact of the film's brutality and imagery. It is loved by fans and is a cult classic, but may be off-putting to some who may want a little more MEAT in their CHILI.
