Ahh the good ol’ 80’s eh?

Well, sorta…we made this album in 1989 but it was released in 1990 which essentially still is the 80’s as every turn of the decade has remnants of the decade prior!

I drop a clip of this one off album/band I did called Eyes...we made a killer album for the time that was of course ignored as the only label that bit for us was one that specialized in Country Music. We were the guinea pigs for their expansion to other genres and well, it didnt quite pan out haha

But this is the real me from around 1975-6, I don’t remember how old I was but as I have to live with this pic, I thought I would share it filed under the ‘we all start from somewhere’!

Now I truly can’t believe this…TWENY FIVE YEARS AGO (how/when/where did 25 years go by?) the movie Rock Star was released!

Sadly in a few days, there is another 25 year anniversary, the tragedy that stopped the world in its tracks including this film that suffered EVERYTHING for EVERYONE…9/11

But this movie served as a major blessing for me being chosen to provide the lead vocals for Bobby Beers, the original lead singer for Steel Dragon!

From then to now I still do ‘Stand Up’ in my live set as well as ‘Livin’ The Life’, there is a 3rd track on the soundtrack that was not used in the flick, ‘Wasted Generation’. Rock Star eventually found a cult following and resonates to audiences today as it should have had 9/11 not occurred.

~GEEZ, I MADE THIS MONTHS AGO AND FORGOT TO POST IT~

1986 - My GOAT band went through a serious lineup change...one of my fave singers (Hagar) left his solo career behind while the OG (Roth) went solo!

2 VERY important albums in my life were released that year and I for one chose NOT to pick sides! I was a big fan of Sammy Hagar’s solo career as much as I was into Van Halen. Thankfully 5150 dropped 1st because it gave us some time to soak in the greatness that would occur in that camp for 3 more albums.

In the meantime, we all knew what to expect from Dave having the arsenal of Vai & Sheehan behind him, Eat Em & Smile was everything we hoped it would be.

I played both records to death, I knew every nuance of them. I hated the division and war of words at the time but the music did the talking for me….happy 40th to VH/Hagar/Roth!

This is literally music to my ears (I can even speak for Eddie Trunk who feels the same as I do)…no offense to streaming...

This is literally music to my ears (I can even speak for Eddie Trunk who feels the same as I do)…no offense to streaming and the convenience of it but I grew up in the era of ‘holding’ my music whether it be vinyl, cassette or even 8-track!

The CD was the best of them all because it could hold more music/information, it had the info I found IMPORTANT as a music lover growing up, names of the band, the producers, writers and even studios they were done at. You had all sound and quality as it was meant to be heard, not some squashed digital file that's a snapshot of the blood, sweat and tears artists put in their music.

Sure, like any format there are glitches like scratched or cracked discs but this was incidental vs buying an ‘album’ that is literally AIR, you stream it without that new album scent and everything I just mentioned.

But as an artist the one thing that connects us with fans is being able to SIGN this piece of art, anyone try signing an mp3 lately?!

Vinyl made a cool comeback, I hope CD’s do as well!

You took this gig while the world held it’s breath wondering if yet another singer in one of the biggest American bands of all time would work.
