I always love a good rainbow, but this one was extra special.

The end of this rainbow appeared to land right in the Chugach Mountains, creating one of those breathtaking Alaska moments that never gets old. No matter how many times I see a rainbow, it still feels a little magical.

These two young bull moose were having quite the showdown in this meadow! 🫎💥

Recently, their mother ran them off as they became old enough to be on their own. Now it looks like they’re practicing what they learned from mom—kicking, shoving, and testing each other’s strength.

These sparring matches help young bulls develop the skills they’ll need later in life when competing for territory and mates. For now, it’s more play than anything serious, but it’s still fun to watch these future giants go at it!

Have you ever seen young moose sparring like this before?

Just a 4-minute glimpse of this incredible bull moose grazing on fresh vegetation near the airport last night. 🫎🌿

Did you know an adult bull moose can consume up to 60 pounds of vegetation every single day? With an appetite like that, it’s no wonder they’re constantly on the move, browsing and feeding.

There’s something peaceful about watching these giants go about their daily routine. I could spend hours observing moose and never get tired of it.

How long do you think you could sit and watch Alaska wildlife?

At first, all I could see were two tiny ears sticking up out of the tall grass.

This adorable moose calf was tucked away in the meadow resting quietly and staying hidden from potential predators. After a while hunger kicked in and the little one got up found mom and went straight in for a meal.

Moments like these are a reminder of how precious Alaska’s baby season truly is. Watching a young calf navigate its first days of life never gets old.

Have you ever spotted a hidden moose calf before?

It’s incredible watching this bull moose year after year! 🫎

One of the most amazing facts about bull moose is that every fall they shed their massive antlers, only to grow an entirely new set each spring. Those huge racks you see are rebuilt from scratch every single year!

Nature never stops amazing me. Watching this bull’s transformation through the seasons is a reminder of just how incredible Alaska’s wildlife really is.

Did you know moose regrow their antlers every year?

The Snowshoe Hare population on Anchorage’s hillside has absolutely exploded this year!

And in the wild, everything is connected.

More hares mean more food for predators like lynx. If nature follows its usual cycle, we could be seeing an increase in lynx sightings in the coming months and years.

It’s always amazing to watch Alaska’s wildlife populations rise and fall in these natural cycles.

Have you noticed more hares around your neighborhood this year?
