Kuwohi, previously Clingmans Dome, is the highest point in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, standing 6,643 feet above sea level. Here you'll find an observation tower offering some of the most stunning views in the park, and you can reach the top by walking a steep half-mile paved trail from the parking area to the 45-foot concrete tower, built in 1959. From its circular platform, you can see up to 100 miles on a clear day across seven states. The view takes in rolling ridges, misty valleys, and the park’s famous “smoky” haze. Open year-round, the tower is especially popular at sunrise and during fall color season, offering one of the most sweeping views in the southern Appalachians!
